I was referred to see Sarah the Occupational Therapist based in my GP Practice by the Practice Nurse. Having tried web based information, I was still struggling with stress, anxiety and low mood so it was recommended I see Sarah.
I am a bit of a science geek so this method of practice really suited me and Sarah took the time to explain to me in a calm, empathetic nature, what was happening to me in a logical and practical way. Having the face to face meeting, for me, was a great benefit as I found her easy to talk to.
Sarah provided me with some good advice as previously I was being quite hard on myself and trying to get back to where I was previously. She helped me to understand that returning to the gym I was not gong to be able to do the same level of training I could do previously and that this needed worked on one day at a time. She made me realise that it was ok to feel the way I did and not to judge myself on my past but to look forwards and I would get back to what I used to do a little bit at a time.
I have now returned to work and Sarah was able to help me prepare for this by providing a line that allowed me to communicate with my bosses who turned out to be great. The phased return really helped me return and it was Sarah who recommended this for me.
I have nothing but praise for Sarah and I think its great that I am able to go back and see her again in the future if I needed to.
