"Go the extra mile to give a great service to their patients"

About: University Hospital Hairmyres / Medicine for the Older Adult (wards 13 - 16)

(as a relative),

Would like to take this opportunity to thank the nursing staff in ward 15 [particularly Yvonne, Denise and Thomas] for the kindness and consideration that they have shown to my Mum whilst she's been an in-patient.

The nursing care is excellent, and they try so hard to make sure that the patients in their care are safe, comfortable and well looked after.   Other staff in other wards could learn from their good practice, kindness and commitment to their patients.

A stay in hospital can be harrowing and difficult, but the staff and medical team in Ward 15 demonstrate that good person-centred care can be delivered if the will, commitment and positive approach is there to do so.

Many thanks once again to all in Ward 15, Hairmyres Hospital, many of whom do go the extra mile to give a great service to their patients.

Dear Patgs53

Thank you for taking the time to give such lovely feedback regarding the care your mum received on ward 15. Yvonne, Denise and Thomas will appreciate your kind words. They are dedicated and compassionate nurses and your feedback will be shared with them and the wider team.

As you say, a hospital stay can be difficult and it is so important that the ethos of person centred care is maintained at all times. Feedback is important as we learn and share this across the organisation. A positive approach and commitment to care are indeed values we strive to deliver in all wards and departments. Thank you again for your comments.

Kind regards to you and your mum

Lise

Update posted by Patgs53 (a relative)

The use of a platform such as Care Opinion is only useful if the comments are taken on board and shared with the appropriate staff. All too often, the staff only hear about criticism and complaints and I sincerely hope that the team in Ward 15 are aware that their kindness and commitment to their patients is recognised.

Best regards

Dear Patgs53

I totally agree that it is essential that comments are taken on board and shared. Personally as soon as I read a care opinion, I share with the team. Going forward we are working towards the Senior charge nurses responding to posts as well as myself.

Yvonne and the Senior Charge Nurse Teresa have asked that I pass on my thanks to you as they have shared your comments with the team and specific staff mentioned.

Thank you again

Lise
