"Incomplete Treatment"

About: West Middlesex University Hospital / Accident and emergency

(as the patient),

I attended West Middlesex A&E following two months of swelling of my knee and then suddenly being unable to bear weight. At A&E I was triaged and taken for an x-ray. I was told that the bone was not broken (I told staff I thought it was a muscular injury) and I asked if an MRI would be completed. I was told I would need to be referred from my GP. I asked how I was meant to walk and given 1 crutch, which I had to google how to use. The following day, I paid for a private MRI out of desperation and found out I have a torn meniscus and a sprained knee. I cannot be seen by a surgeon until 3 months after attending A&E.
