My daughter was admitted to A&E at Edinburgh Royal Infirmary .
She was frightened (as was I ) as she was experiencing intense pain of an unknown origin. She was extremely sore and and I have never seen her in that situation.
She experienced great compassionate care from the nursing team.
One of the nurses in particular was just amazing - such a lovely temperament, understanding , caring and a great ambassador for the nursing team at A&E as she reflected all the NHS core values.
Sadly I have to highlight the reception area, as they lacked the very basics in human compassion and communication skills. While I do understand the job is extremely challenging and difficult and it’s easy to become desensitised, I think they should remember to display the basic key skills of kindness and compassion.
"Good nursing and medical care"
