About: Ysbyty Ystrad Fawr / Minor Injuries Unit

(as a service user),

I went there mid February in pain with my shoulder chest breathlessness and purple foot and unable to walk, I arrived there at 7pm had blood test and ECG. The doctor came and saw around ,3am and said I could go home cos test were normal, when I tried telling him my leg was in agony and he could see my foot was purple I tried again to tell him I know there's something wrong, his reply was that they do not deal with bone pain, yet again I said it's not bone pain and still my concerns were ignored, the doctors attitude towards me was not very good he kept on telling me everything was ok, When I got home the next day, I went to my GP who took one look and the colour of my foot and took measurements of my calf muscles which one swollen, I was sent to the DVT clinic where they then sent me to the respiratory ward where the correct bloods were taken and came back positive for a blood clot, I then was given a chest CT which showed I have blood clots on the lung

I also went to Ystrad in November with the same issue and nothing was done then either just told to go home in agony, the nurses I saw Thursday think the clot could have been there way back then and has now travelled to my lung. The doctors in ystrad need to listen what they are being told because if I had listened to the doctor there and not gone to my GP the clot could have caused it stroke or travelled to my heart or brain with severe consequences. This is not the first time I have been ignored last time I was told my symptoms were in my head but all this time since November I have possibly and a clot in my leg. Please give your doctors more training and how to deal with women who are trying to tell them there is something wrong instead of saying it's my head, I was not the only woman who was told this by the doctors on the occasions I've attended.it seems the NHS needs to update or give further training on women's health issues instead of saying it's I'm their heads or they are menopausal which I have been told up there.
