"Hospital Admission"

About: Crosshouse Hospital / Accident & Emergency Crosshouse Hospital / High Dependency Unit

(as a service user),

I had been admitted into A&E resus and then into 4F (Medical High Dependency Unit).

This admission was very different for me compared to previous admissions. Staff were very nice towards me and very understanding. They tried to accommodate my needs and help make this admission easier. I was in distress many times throughout this admission and the staff were amazing. I was never belittled or made to feel like a waste of their time despite how busy they were.

My named nurses for the days I was there, Sarah, Melanie, Leanne and Nicola were all very kind and gave me the time to talk when I needed it whilst managing the medical care I required. Other staff were all very kind too although I cannot remember all of their names. Paula was also really good whilst I was there, she tried to get me extra support for discharge and made me feel that I did matter in this situation. I was also helped with my hair by a nursing assistant Claire which made me feel a lot better. It really shows that the little things can mean a whole lot more to people than the big things.

I cannot thank the staff at A&E and 4F enough for the kindness they showed me during a very difficult time. I will be forever grateful to the staff who cared for me.

Dear Plutonium96

Thank you for taking the time and trouble to share this lovely feedback about your recent admission to the Emergency Department and Ward 4F within University Hospital Crosshouse.

I am glad to hear that you received such kind, professional and compassionate care from our staff and it will be my pleasure to share your kind comments with the wider Teams in both Departments and in particular with all of the staff you have taken the time to mention by name. I agree that it’s often the small things that can make such a difference, such as a kind word or a smile and I am so glad that our staff were able to put you at ease whilst you were under their care.

Our staff really appreciate receiving feedback from their patients. I know they will be delighted to receive this feedback and it will be really encouraging for them to know that you felt so well supported by them.

Please accept my best wishes for your ongoing recovery and thank you once again for taking the time to acknowledge your care experience.

Kind Regards

Pamela
