I attended the drop-in MMR community vaccination clinic recently at The Valley Leisure Centre.
The staff that assisted me were brilliant as my specific case was different as I had received a letter from Antrim Area Hospital to say that I had been in contact with an infectious measles patient during my visit to minor injuries.
At The Valley Leisure Centre I had given my H&C number, but it brought up no immune/vaccination records and I did confirm that my own GP surgery could not obtain these records either which was worrying for me. To be fair, The Valley MMR staff tried everything, including going through various directives due to me not fitting within the current MMR "eligibility" criteria at this time.
The MMR staff made me feel very at ease until they decided the way forward. It was finally decided that I should get my MMR booster due to me caring for my elderly mother and other elderly relatives who rely on me every day.
I cannot thank all the MMR staff enough who helped me as they made me feel less anxious about the whole situation. They also gave me all the instructions before I got my jab and then followed-up with more instructions about the 4 weeks period for my MMR2 - either via my own GP surgery or another drop-in MMR clinic.
The MMR staff on this occasion were fully professional in every way possible and their patience was tremendous. I just wish more NHS staff were like them.
Thanks again.
