I gave birth to my second child in Peterhead Maternity Unit recently. From the moment my husband and I arrived we felt welcomed and looked after.
The 2nd year student midwife, Samantha, who was case loading for continuity of care was there to greet us at the door! It was so reassuring to see a familiar face. Throughout my labour the midwives (Samantha, Natalie, Iona, Gillian) were encouraging, supportive and always explained what they were doing/what was happening. They kept me and my husband and the birth that we hoped for at the heart of their care. I felt safe and trusted them totally. I was so pleased to be able to use the birthing pool too! The warm water and the calm environment the midwives created was perfect. We were the only ones there that day and felt like royalty!
My baby and I stayed one night in the post natal ward which was so warm, clean and comfortable. The overnight staff were very attentive in making sure we were both ok and that I got some sleep. We couldn’t have asked for more. We would recommend Peterhead Maternity Unit as a wonderful place to give birth!
