"Appointment issues"

About: Stonehouse Hospital / Rheumatology University Hospital Hairmyres / Rheumatology

(as the patient),

I was supposed to have an appointment for rheumatology last week at Stonehouse Hospital. I haven’t seen anyone for over 12 months and I had a call from an advisor saying I was 4 months overdue, which appointment I NEVER received and they was not any communication about an appointment either.

She made one for me for last Tuesday at Stonehouse Hospital and I have never been there before had to get someone to take me there as there’s no bus route. I was still waiting at after an hour to see a doctor and found out there were only 2 doctors on site who were running 6 clinics of different things.

There were another 2 people in front of me. I couldn’t wait any longer as I had someone waiting outside for me and also had another doctor’s appointment shortly after.

I think it’s shocking that they give you an appointment time and you still have to wait almost 2hrs to see anyone!

My condition of psoriasis’s arthritis for over 12 months and I still haven’t been seen even by rheumatology though I’m getting worse and I’m not going back to the Stonehouse Hospital again!

I’m normally treated at Hairmyres and have not received another appointment since then.

Dear Lesley1951

Thank you for taking the time to share your concerns about the long waiting time for your clinic appointment and review. I am sorry to read that you had such a delay in receiving an appointment and that the clinic was running so behind time on the day you attended.

I would be happy to look into this to see if there is anything we can do to support and understand the delays you have explained.

I would therefore be grateful if you would contact Patient Affairs on

01355 585325 or PatientAffairs.hairmyres@lanarkshire.scot.nhs.uk

Again my sincere apologies for the inconvenience caused.

Kind regards

Lise
