"Guidance has been invaluable"

About: Parent Support Link

(as a service user),

I have been supported by a lovely lady called Barbara. I have been struggling with my son who has addiction and behavioural issues. Barbara has given me guidance and support in times of crisis and has always communicated so well with me. I am a single parent also.

I gave my son the two choices Barbara said to give and he continued to unfortunately be disrespectful, so I basically informed him we are going to No Limits. He tried not to but I gave him no choice and he went and he is now being referred for an assessment for the YMCA.

Thank you for teaching me to stay firm with my choices and boundaries. Having your guidance with him has been invaluable on times that I have felt so stuck and unsure and in despair. You have helped me the most with him. I and he both feel better with the possibility of him moving into the YMCA. Your an invaluable service so thank you.

Dear Belwn87,

Thank you for sharing your experience with us. It's heartening to hear that Barbara has been such a supportive and guiding presence for you during such challenging times with your son. It's clear that her dedication and communication have made a significant difference in navigating through difficult situations.

Making tough decisions and setting boundaries, especially as a single parent facing substance use, can be incredibly challenging. It's commendable that you've taken the steps necessary to ensure his well-being and your own, even when faced with resistance.

It's inspiring to see your willingness to seek out support and guidance when needed, and I'm glad to hear that Barbara's assistance has been invaluable during these moments of uncertainty and despair.

Remember, you're not alone on this journey, and seeking help when needed is a sign of strength. Your dedication to your son's well-being is evident, and I'm confident that with continued support and perseverance, you'll navigate through these challenges successfully.
