"Massive thanks to all involved in my granddaughters care."

About: Royal Aberdeen Children's Hospital / Accident & Emergency (Emergency Care) Scottish Ambulance Service / Ambulance Control Centre Scottish Ambulance Service / Emergency Ambulance

(as a relative),

Would like to say a massive thanks to all involved in my granddaughter care.

My granddaughter had had a temperature and wasn't herself, temperature wasn't coming down with paracetamol or cool baths.

That evening her temperature went up to 39.1 so myself and daughter were trying everything but still wouldn't come down

She took a febrile convulsion went all rigid and eyes fixed. My daughter phoned ambulance service straight away and the call handler was second to none keeping my daughter calm till ambulance arrived ( which was only 4 mins even though it seemed longer).

Massive thanks to first responder who was first on scene followed by ambulance crew. Sorry never got any names. The decision was made early on would need to go to hospital.

Once we arrived at A and E all nurses and doctors were amazing. Everything was explained and how to keep close eye on her.

We got home in the early hours of the next morning and she is recovering and getting back to normal.

Sorry I didn't get anyone names but wouldn't wish this on anyone but if it does happen again I know she is in safe hands.

Thanks again and keep up good work.

Dear Kaz1903

Thank you for sharing your story. It is always very frightening when a child has a febrile convulsion. I am glad to read that you are happy with the care received.

If you would like me to pass on your thanks to the call handler and ambulance crews may I ask that you contact our Patient Experience Team at sas.feedback@nhs.scot with your name, Care Opinion name, your grand-daughter's name and the address and date we attended.

I am glad she is recovering well.

Kindest regards

David

Update posted by Kaz1903 (a relative)

Thanks for reply David. I didn't expect that I have sent an email and had a reply back saying the staff in question will all be thanked.

It is so easy for people to complain but I wanted to make sure all involved were thanked.

Keep up the good work.

Kaz
