I was transferred to this hospital as an emergency from another hospital where a stent was fitted due to a blockage at my bile duct. This was a painful operation.
I was given an appointment early this year for follow-up day surgery by the same surgeon. Unfortunately this wasn't successful partly because I was experiencing extreme anxiety, due to worries about post operative pain.
The excellent surgeon stopped the procedure and came to the recovery area to advise he'd issue a new appointment within a month or two to have the procedure done under general anaesthetic. He was very caring and waved off my apology for my anxiety causing the procedure not to be possible that day, saying these things happen.
I was admitted a month later for the surgery, again by the same surgeon. The surgery was complicated and the expectation was only part of it might be possible with a follow-up required. In the end, the talented surgeon did the full procedure so no follow-up is needed.
I am beyond grateful to the surgeon. I would also comment on the Consultant who administered the anaesthesia. I was feeling anxious and he and was very calming. So was his other colleague. I am very grateful to them all.
"I am very grateful to them all"
