I’ve been in hospital for almost 2 weeks. I was admitted with respiratory problems. I have a paralysis from an L3/4 spinal problem.
I can become very constipated. I mostly manage this at home with diet.
X-rays show I’m entirely impacted just now. The Nutritionist here at the hospital suggests, brown bread, brown pasta etc which I eat at home. She suggested regular fruit which is my normal.
However the hospital menu has none of these things. White bread and rice, masses of potatoes. Even when fresh fruit is on the menu it rarely comes to the ward.
Why is the medical advise given and the menu offered not more in line with each other.
Surely a holistic approach to wellbeing needs the hospital menu aligned with the treatment offered.
The staff are lovely and agree with these comments but somewhere higher up in the system they are not following the medical advise of their staff when creating the hospital menu.
