I was diagnosed with glaucoma and initially was bounced all over Moray and Aberdeen to be seen by several different practitioners from Buckie to Elgin to Aberdeen hospital and other out sourced practices there. There was no consistency and was required to do round trips of up up to 120 miles.
Then Mr Bearn headed up the Ophthalmology clinic in Elgin, he and his staff provided an excellent service second to none. He operated on both my eyes and saved my eye sight and has continued to monitor them since.
I have been informed that due to cost cuts his short term contract at Dr Gray's Hospital will be ended this summer and nursing staff will in future carry out checks at the Elgin Hospital to be reviewed later at Aberdeen Hospital.
I find this very disappointing that Elgin will no longer be able to provide a proper service and patients are then going to have to travel hundreds of miles again if they need to see an Ophthalmologist.
"I find this very disappointing"
