"She ended up very confused"

About: Altnagelvin Area Hospital / Emergency department

(as a relative),

My mother who is in her late 70's arrived by ambulance to A&E.

After seeing several doctors she was left to sit on a hard plastic seat for almost 24 hours, she ended up very confused and even more unwell than she was on arrival.

Hi Irenesgirl,

I am saddened to read of your mother's experience in our department, having patients sitting on chairs for extended periods of time is not the care we would want to give. Unfortunately however there are not always available beds in our admission wards to receive patients, and they do often wait in our department much longer than we would like.

We can only hope that this situation will improve in the future, apologies again and I hope that your mother is recovering now.

Thankyou for your response and kind words, my Mother has been so well looked after and hopefully will get home soon, I was really exhausted and worried for my mother when I wrote on this forum, I have always had the utmost respect and gratitude for everyone who is part of the NHS, thankyou for everything.
