I arrived to A&E in quite a state with a head wound which was bleeding, swelling and a lot of bruising.
I was seen to quickly by a nurse who took my vitals and checked out the injuries. Following this I was sent for x-rays and throughout staff were diligent in checking in and testing for concussion.
The radiologist was very clear with their instructions when I was seen and the process of getting the x-rays was quick and smooth given the circumstances.
My x-rays were reviewed by the doctor who did not identify any fractures and prepared my wound carefully to be stapled closed. I was happy for a student to observe the procedure and the doctor did an excellent job administering the local anaesthetic and closing the wound.
I was very pleased to be discharged following this with pain medication and a factsheet along with advice for monitoring a head injury.
Given the extent of injuries, I am very pleased to have had all this done in 5 hours and I would commend all staff I worked with for their positive and calm response throughout.
"Staff were positive and calm throughout"
