We had a brilliant homebirth experience with the South Aberdeenshire Community Midwifes with our second baby in December.
My midwife was very supportive of us having a homebirth. She helped us to facilitate and prepare for the homebirth in the run up to the delivery of my baby. The procedures and options available to us were made very clear, along with the risks of having a homebirth.
I ended up having a long latent phase with stop start contractions, over the course of 2 weeks. The midwife team came to visit us twice before the morning my son was born.
Each time the midwife team came out to us they were friendly, professional and supportive throughout. They listened to our needs and wants.
My baby was delivered quickly in a birthing pool at home. The oncall midwife guided me through the delivery brilliantly.
The team provided great prenatal and postnatal care. The continuity of care received from my midwife was brilliant. Although we saw lots of different midwifes over the course of the 2 weeks, she checked in with me regularly to monitor me and the baby, discuss options and ensure that we were safe to continue with our birth plan. Throughout we felt supported and heard.
A brilliant service, thank you!
