We were blown away by our care in the NICU Ninewells. Every single person we came across was friendly, caring, compassionate, professional, competent, and communicated very well with us throughout.
We had to be transferred up from Edinburgh when I started showing signs of early labour due at 33 weeks gestation, due to there being no space in the neonatal unit there. We were very anxious about the situation of being up in Dundee as we had a young child back home and it seemed so far away. Once our new arrival was born, the NICU team were fantastic at making us feel more at ease with the situation and made sure we were well looked after. We felt very welcome in every part of the unit and it was the little smiles and hellos in the corridors that really made the difference.
It is clear that there is a very positive and driven culture in the unit, and we were very impressed with the level of care. The unit itself is beautiful and calming, and me and my toddler particularly loved the artwork by Freya Cumming. It makes such a difference during these stressful and upsetting times to be somewhere you feel welcome and safe and supported. Thank you for also entertaining my son and making it easier for us to bring him in and introduce him to his baby brother.
We can’t thank you all enough for going above and beyond. You are all incredible at what you do. We will be back for a family visit to Dundee for a Clarkie’s bakery soon!
A special mention for Rae, Louise, Hayley, and Holly from the paramedic team who made sure we got our transfer back sorted out. We really appreciate you fighting for us and everything you did to make that happen so that we could be back with our other son too.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Our new baby is doing amazing and we will hopefully get him home soon.
