"Waiting on this appointment to get some help"

About: Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow / Neurology (Ward 53 and 67)

(as a service user),

I am currently waiting to see consultant Neurologist due to ongoing facial pain and balance problem. I am a patient known to Neurologist as I have a long standing neurological condition and it was the nurse specialist at their clinic who advised that I needed to be seen by the consultant at their 1st available appointment which turned out to be 2 years from when she referred me.

I am still waiting but have managed to get the appointment brought forward by requesting a  cancellation appointment. My appointment is now currently for October which will be 1 year from initial request. Meanwhile my symptoms have been worsening and my GP has attempted to get an earlier appointment but with no success as yet.

I have no quality if life now and just exist from day to day waiting on this appointment to try to get some help. Disgusted.

Dear Ama43,

I am sorry for your current experience with regard to our waiting times within the service.

If you would like to email your details to myself Amy.O'Sullivan@ggc.scot.nhs.uk I can ask the waiting times team to investigate further for you.

While waiting for appointments we would always advise patient if their symptoms change they should contact their GP.

Many Thanks

Amy
