"Confusion about what we can and cannot order from togs and zest"

About: Rampton Hospital

(as a service user),

i keep getting told that we cannot order sports direct clothing through togs anymore but yet a patient on my ward has just had a order from sports direct through togs. this is confusing as togs get there clothing from sports direct and it seems that they do not want you buying things that are for sale at 2 for 45 pounds but they will happily let you pay 38 pounds for 1 single item.

also zest keep telling patients that they are not allowed to order a 100ml aftershave but they can sell you a 50ml bottle for nearly 2 times more. i have checked this out with our csln and he confirmed that there is no security policy stating that they can not sell 100ml bottles to patients. there seems to be a common theme here that both togs and zest dont give patients a clear message.

by telling patients that security has said this and that and when you question it they then say its a policy and security have said so.  we need to make sure that we are all on the same page and also if there is something on sports direct at 2 for 45 pounds then the shop sell it for near that price instead of trying to exploit vunerable people.

Thank you for raising your feedback regarding the confusion about what patients can and cannot order from Togs and Zest and we are sorry to hear this.

Facilities staff have been working closely with colleagues at Rampton to help try and answer some of your concerns.

In relation to Zest and the sale of 100ml fragrances. This was discussed and confirmed at this months Security committee. Zest is not allowed to sell any bottle larger than 50ml.

If a patient wishes to buy a 100ml bottle, this will need to be discussed and be granted approval by the ward team, as 100ml bottles are classified as a restricted item.

The item is then assessed and a decision is made by the clinical team. If the item is approved, a request is then followed up with a completed non-stock order form which is signed off by your ward manager. ZEST will be sent the non-stock order form for processing. The Facilities Manager has reconfirmed this process with staff in ZEST to avoid any further confusion.

You are correct Togs already stock lines from Sports Direct. There are other suppliers available on Made Purple that can provide online sports clothing. Togs staff are unable to accept non stock orders for Sports Direct due to the fluctuation of prices, live stock availability from the time of browsing and the length of time it is taking for the order request to be approved. This is resulting in many orders and discounts expiring before the non stock order form is being raised.

Items that have been purchased by Togs from Sports Direct, the discounted price is reflected in the shop. This will include any the 2 for £45 items being split.

We are aware some wards have greater accessibility to online ordering which will include patients being able to order direct from Sports Direct. A working group is underway at Rampton, with a plan improve online ordering for more patients.

Please continue to share and discuss your feedback at the patient food and shop group, where we welcome your views.
