"Totally professional and skilled"

About: Scottish Ambulance Service / Emergency Ambulance

(as a service user),

I was cleaning my slabs in my garden with Hypo (Hydrochloric acid) in diluted form but a reaction happened and a cloud of gas enveloped me causing me to virtually collapse. I more or less suffocated with the gas (chlorine) and just managed to exit the garden stumbling and streaming from my nose eyes and mouth.

The coughing made me vomit explosively and when the emergency services arrived their expertise was extremely efficient. The Fire & Rescue, Hazard Materials response unit, the Serious incident first responders and finally the Ambulance and Hospital staff who looked after me were all totally professional and skilled.

I'm lucky to be here after such a dramatic incident and would like to express my respective thanks to them all. What a fortunate country we live in.

Dear Arthur927

Thank you for sharing your story. It must have been a very frightening experience so I am glad that you are happy with the care you received.

If you would like me to pass on your thanks to the crew that attended may I ask that you contact our Patient Experience Team at sas.feedback@nhs.scot with your name, Care Opinion name and the address and date we attended.

I do hope you are fully recovered.

Kindest regards

David
