I have read so many very negative reviews about the NHS and local GP Surgeries that I feel compelled to write a very positive review about my local Moira surgery.

The reception staff and the doctors have always been welcoming, polite, respectful and helpful on every occasion that I have had to use the surgery. During the Pandemic they made every effort to ensure that the needs of their patients were met.

Two weeks ago my partner was suffering from non-acute, but very severe, pain in his hip. I was able to make an online appointment for within the following 3 days. Following the extensive consultation the Doctor recommended a hip X-ray and advised him to go to the drop-in X-ray service at Lurgan Hospital.

He went to Lurgan Hospital the next day and the hospital was already aware of what he needed.

He had his X-ray within 10 minutes of arrival at the hospital and the results were sent electronically to his GP.

All this was completed within a week.

I know that some people may have had negative experiences but please don't blame the reception staff or the Doctors because they work within a financially restricted system.

I really do feel lucky to be registered with such a helpful and caring GP surgery in Moira.

Thank you for your very positive comments in regard to your GP and Lurgan Hospital X-Ray. We have a well established connection with the GP's within the Southern Trust. The referral system is electronic and the Radiographers ensure referrals are processed in a very timely manner. This ensures that the department is aware you may be calling in to them within a few days. I will share this with the staff who will be delighted with your comments.

Hi Ann.

I am glad you were able to see and read my comments because the whole process between my GP Surgery in Moira and Lurgan Hospital was exemplary of best practice. There is even a positive addendum to the story because on the same afternoon that my partner attended your X-ray department he was telephoned by his GP at around 5.30pm on the same evening to tell him the results of his X-ray!! Amazing. Your radiographer must have reviewed the X-ray very quickly and sent the results back to my GP electronically within a couple of hours.

All I can say is WELL DONE Moira GP Practice and WELL DONE Lurgan Hospital X-ray Department.
