"Hugely positive impact on my disease and quality of life"

About: Beatson West of Scotland Cancer Centre / Haematology Ambulatory Care Service

(as the patient),

I’ve been receiving treatment for Multiple Myeloma for just over ten years now. I have had five different types of chemotherapy and two stem cell transplants. I have been lucky enough to gain named patient access to a new bio specific antibody treatment, which is being delivered by Louise and Rowan in Ambulatory Care.

Not only has the treatment had a hugely positive impact on my disease and quality of life but having access to ambulatory care has cut out the huge chunks of time I would spend in hospital receiving traditional infusion treatments. I work full time and have a young family so this has been invaluable, literally saving me up to six hours of hospital time each month.

Hospital is not always a fun place to be so this has also had a distinct impact on my general mental wellbeing and positive outlook. Louise and Rowan are always super organised and professional but more importantly they are a pleasure to be around and make any time spent in the unit as enjoyable as it is worthwhile.
