I recently attended the Day Surgery Unit for ENT surgery.
From the minute I was dropped off, every member of staff was extremely friendly and kept me informed of what would happen at each stage.
I was checked on regularly while waiting for my surgery and nothing was a bother if I needed anything.
I woke up in recovery totally pain and nausea-free which had been a big fear for me.
I was soon transferred to the DSU recovery ward where I was stay overnight and the exemplary care continued there. Tracy the Charge Nurse was looking after me and was concerned about my wound and blood pressure. She didn’t hesitate to get me reviewed by the ENT team.
Thankfully, everything was fine although I was closely monitored overnight. I had an extremely positive experience during my time in the DSU and theatre departments.
I’m sorry I can’t recall everyone’s names but I would like to highlight Louise who was my theatre nurse and reassured me while I was being anaesthetised, Tracy who ensured I was reviewed when she was concerned about my wound, and Louise on nightshift who I enjoyed a blether with when I couldn’t sleep. Thanks everyone ☺️
