I came to the hospital yesterday with my elderly mother to have surgery to her pace maker. The staff were faultless very caring and we were treated with the greatest of respect.
My issue was when leaving the hospital.
I had a wheelchair for my mother and I put her hold-all on the back of the wheelchair. As we got to the exit a young man came frantically up to us asking if we had finished with the wheelchair as he was desperate for it. I quickly got my 95 year old mother out of the wheelchair totally concentrating on her and the wheelchair and the young man had gone - with the hold-all on the chair - nowhere to be seen.
I have since been in touch with reception and subsequently security at NGH and left my details. No bag has been found. Im concerned that this is a scam and that this man was focusing on vulnerable people hoping to obtain valuables in the bag. Fortunately there was not too much of value only my mother’s hearing aid which she paid £1500 and will have to pay again.
I think patients and their relatives should be made aware of this
Thanks for your time.
