"The team were thorough"

About: Queen Margaret Hospital / Ear, Nose & Throat

(as a service user),

I had a FESS and Septoplasty with the ENT team at NHS Fife. The team were thorough in explaining what would happen during and after the procedure.

I was given some control over the choices being made as I wear a closed-loop insulin pump which makes decisions as to my blood glucose levels. The anaesthetist and surgical team understood the benefit of remaining on this rather than setting up a drip for insulin which undoubtedly improved my recovery and response to surgery.

When recovering, the team on the ward kept me informed as to how I might feel in the coming hours and days and gave me contact details should things change.

Dear omegajx97

My name is Siobhan McIlroy and I am the Head of Patient Experience. NHS Fife welcomes all feedback, so thank you for taking the time to post on Care Opinion. I am sorry for the delay in you receiving a response.

I am pleased that the ENT team explained everything that was happening during and after your FESS and Septoplasty. Communication is key and it helps put you at ease too. It is great that you were listened to and felt in control in making decisions about your care, definitely Person Centred.

I hope you are recovering well and thank you again for sharing your story.

Best wishes and take care, Siobhan
