My elderly father was admitted to Palm ward via A&E recently. He was diagnosed with urine and chest infections and was suffering from delirium. Following that he had severe pneumonia.
He passed away after a difficult 12 days. He slept most of the time and was unable to communicate but was very agitated at times.
The care he received was exemplary, from the doctors to the nurses, nursing assistants and students at the time, even the lady who served the meals (although he was unable to eat a lot of the time). Sorry if I have missed anyone out. Everyone was so caring.
We were kept informed at every stage. A particular mention to Dr Kuri, who was on duty for the few days towards the end of my father’s life. Every day when I was visiting he came and explained everything to me. He was very clear and caring. This made a very difficult time easier to cope with.
My father’s last days were peaceful due to the management and care he received.
Thank you everyone.
