"Emergency prescription"

About: Lerwick Health Centre

(as the patient),

In preparation for a month-long holiday visiting the North of Scotland, Shetland and Orkney, I packed my medication for type 2 diabetes.  In a complete brainstorm, I didn't pack enough of 2 of my tablets.

I contacted Lerwick Medical Centre before we arrived in Shetland to explain.  I received a couple of emails promptly and a GP phone call and, within a short time, was told that a prescription would be issued ASAP.

I chose to go to the Centre to collect it, visited a nearby pharmacy where it was filled straightaway and breathed a sigh of relief.

I cannot praise the Medical Centre staff enough for responding quickly and politely.  They liaised with my home practice and kept me informed.

The pharmacy was efficient and friendly too.  Well done, Lerwick, and many thanks.
