"Made to feel inadequate and stupid"

About: Royal Bournemouth Hospital / X-ray and Scans

(as a service user),

I had a hospital appointment as I had a couple of bleeds. The first time I had the bleeds I went to Poole and it was ok. I bled again and was referred to Bournemouth. I was very nervous. I came out of the scan angry and upset. I felt the Dr was rude and very judgemental yet they don't understand what I've been going through. At the end of the scan I was told to not worry if I bleed in 6 months but after that get referred back as they want me to be seen by another department as I may have bladder cancer.

All through this appointment I was made to feel inadequate and stupid. If this Dr thinks that about bladder cancer, why aren't I being tested now, as it kills. I really would not like to go back as I hated my appointment.

The only good was the nurses were fine. They went quiet when this Dr went in and atmosphere changed. All of this was in front of someone learning. I really hope they teach the drs bedside manner.

I am so sorry to hear that this has been your experience. It is not in keeping with our Trust Values to make anyone feel as you have described and I am so sorry if this was the case. Normally our staff and medical professionals are very mindful of a persons feelings and would act with empathy and understanding to address these.
