"7 hour wait in maternity triage"

About: Croydon University Hospital

I went to maternity triage in Croydon University hospital on 20 May 2024. I was quickly taken in by the midwife around 5 pm. They did the initial checks and I was asked to stay in the waiting area to be seen by a doctor. I was finally seen by a doctor around 12.00 midnight after a 7 hour wait! That was also only because I informed them that I had to go home. The doctor and midwife who saw me were lovely. But they are clearly understaffed. When the doctors are in surgery there is no one to cover. There were a number of patients who were clearly in pain but waiting as they had no other option. I finally left the hospital around 12:40 am. I expected a 3 -4 hour wait as you usually wait for that long in A and E. However, it is disappointing that the trust does not use tax payers money to employ more doctors!
