"Unacceptable toilet hygiene"

About: Royal Devon & Exeter Hospital (Wonford) / Surgical Assessment Unit

(as a service user),

I had to provide a sample and use the toilet in Abbey ward just next to triage cubicles.

The toilet especially under the seat was disgusting on two occasions in May 2024.

To have such a source of disease in the hospital which is probably duplicated through out the other wards is surely unacceptable.

Dear izarpj84

thank you for your feedback regarding the toilet, I am sorry to hear you had two poor experiences. I have spoken to the housekeeping team regarding this and we have checked our records and we adhered to the cleaning schedule in may, However I acknowledge that there may be occasions between the cleaning schedule that the toilet becomes dirty and we are unaware of this. There is a sign asking for people to report to us if the toilet is below standard however this was not very visible at the time of your visit so we have moved it.

Please can I assure you that we will be monitoring the toilet in the future and addressing any hygiene issues. once again thankyou for your feedback

Kind Regards

Kate
