About: County Hospital Louth / Colorectal surgery

I was looked after extremely well and all of the staff who dealt with me were great - thank you all.

There were a couple of points I noticed in the "How to take your bowel preparation" leaflet (ULHT-LFT-3733 v1) which I thought I would mention:

On page 5, it lists milk under "Foods Allowed" but under "Clear fluids" it says "Black tea and coffee (no milk)". Is this to do with milk being different if heated? Just curious - personally I have coffee black and don't drink tea anyway!

On page 10 it says "Stop eating at 2.00pm. Do not eat anything after 4.00pm". Presumably both of these times should be the same. Didn't apply to me as my appointment was in the morning, but I happened to notice it!

Hi alphabw95,

I'm so sorry the information you received regarding your bowel preparation was confusing. Thank you for taking the time to write and give us the opportunity to change our information for the better

We do know that there are some issues with our current wording. We are in the process of addressing your comments alongside others from patients recently, with a new information leaflet anticipated to be published in August 2024. The focus of this redraft will be to provide clearer information, removing any contradictions or ambiguity throughout. I have passed your comments to the lead for this project and we will make sure to use your feedback when rephrasing the information

Once the new leaflet is live, I will post a response back to you so you can have a look.
