"Excellent service and care!"

About: St James's University Hospital

I had my first baby in St. James's. I read some reviews that are not quite good but I know that every experience is different. Mine was very amazing from start to finish.

I had an excellent experience with sjuh from pre natal, labor & delivery and post natal treatments.

My experience was wonderful, all the staff that I encountered was very sweet, professional, caring and excellent, including the students.

Antenatal- every time my husband call the Maternity Assessment Unit, they always accomodate us quickly everytime we ring them. Always advised us to come everytime we have concerns such as less fetal movements, temperature, bleeding etc. I felt that they do really care eventhough I don't see the same healthcare providers all the time. The care they provide is the same.

During labour- I had to wait outside for a few minutes while waiting for a bed. I didn't mind cause I was not in labor yet. I just had my water broke and was advised to go to the unit for me to be checked. When my labor started, everyone again is wonderful! They tried to ease my pain, they gave me varieties of pain relief such as pregnancy ball, water therapy where I stayed in the bathtub for quite sometime and lastly medications.

Delivery- I had an excellent & wonderful delivery because I had the best midwives. They communicate to us very well, the dignity, patience, empathy and reassurance is always there. They gave us the best care of how they treated me, my husband and my baby! I hadn't had the chance to have the epidural but its worth it! I handled it properly with the help of the midwives by teaching me the proper breathing and push that I needed. The dignity was maintained all through out, no unnecessary ie (internal examination) was conducted. The cut and the suture is done nicely.

Postnatal-ly, my healthcare provider's are very caring and professional, they never left me alone and I'm very happy with the care I recieved. How they took care and handled my baby most especially. A little bit pressured with breastfeeding but I felt the concern and importance.

After 4 weeks, I came back with a mastitis and everyone is welcoming me and my baby. As some of them recognized us. They do really care. They gave me the information about this, do's and dont's. The physician was gorgeous and lovely. She explained it to me well, she told me she will not admit me as it is manageable at home and so that I will be more comfortable at home especially with a newborn.

Thank you! Shout out to all of them! I cannot name them all including the students.

Thank you so much for taking the time to write to us with your wonderful feedback.

Huge congratulations on the birth of your baby.

It is heart-warming to read you felt the care you received throughout your pregnancy was caring, professional and dignified.

I have passed on your kind words of support and encouragement to the obstetric matrons and asked that they share with all the team involved in your care. I know all the staff will be delighted the care and service your received exceeded your expectations.

kindest regards
