I posted a review on the 11th March about my first experience at attending Wythenshawe Hospital, as someone on the autism spectrum, and I wanted to follow up on my recent experiences.
All I can say, is thank you, your hospital has been superb, caring, efficient, and so informative every step of the way of my ongoing journey. I was lucky, perhaps that is not the right word to use, to meet a surgeon who agreed to remove my gallbladder regardless of my BMI, my own local hospital made excuses. Blood tests and scans followed, sadly the scan showed up something unexpected elsewhere, and so I have had further scans, tests, and an appointment with the Rapid Lung Diagnostic Clinic Team and this is ongoing with further tests planned until we get a definite diagnosis. It is a scary time, but had I not got my appointment back in March at Wythenshawe Hospital to begin this journey, who knows what might have happened for me. For now, I am happy and feeling optimistic that being cared for by staff at Wythenshawe Hospital has helped me immensely, from the admin staff, HCA’s, Nurses, Consultants, and the Macmillan Team both in the clinic I attended and the main drop in center. The journey ahead doesn’t feel as frightening and scary thanks to the staff I have encountered. I eventually got the travel costs issue I mentioned previously sorted out with a lovely helpful cashier at Wythenshawe.
