My son who is only 5 fell and burst his face open at swimming lessons. He had a deep wound on the edge of his lip and face. I was really worried about how he would cope with the injections for the local anaesthetic and then stitches to his lip and the inside of his mouth.
I was first seen at Stirling minor injuries. The nursing assistant and the AP that saw my son were lovely, they really took the time to engage with him and keep him calm. They took pictures of his injuries and sent them to Maxi Facial specialist team at FVRH. Who advised that they wanted to see him.
I then went to A&E at FVRH and thankfully was taken soon after my arrival. The doctor introduced herself by her first name and I later found out her name is Dr Andrews. She went out of her way to talk and chat with my son about his interests and kept him engaged and calm whilst she looked at his wounds.
She then explained to him what she was going to do in away he would understand, thankfully he tolerated the local anaesthetic and the stitches. Dr Andrews was amazing, very skilled and the after care was superb.
