I went to accident and emergency following severe abdominal pain for 6 hours, once through triage i was put through to a bed in a more private room on the emergency wards. I was not spoken to by any health professionals for 3 hours. During this time i was not offered any kind of pain relief.
The first interaction i had after those 3 hours was a nurse calling out that the other patients had moved on and were shutting off the lights. They then realised I was there and 20 minutes later came in only to ask my name and date of birth.
It took another hour to be seen by a doctor who I felt spoke to me like a child. I was told the issue could be my gall bladder but was more than likely just a stomach bug. Following all this i had bloods done and told to wait (this was around 5am), during this time i had porters coming into my room without knocking whilst i was sleeping (i was an alone female) to check things in the room. When my bloods came back they decided it was a small stomach bug. And I was told to take paracetamol.
This pain continued to the point i was constantly in tears, at which point i decided to go back to another accident and emergency department for a second opinion, who then pushed me through to surgical observation who requested a CT scan which determined i actually had appendicitis.
"I actually had appendicitis"
