Sadly my wife and I had the tragic misfortune to suffer a miscarriage at 19 weeks. She was rushed to Burton hospital late on a Friday night to see what was going on and to look after her as she was bleeding quite heavily.
On arrival we were looked after brilliantly, told with care and compassion about everything that was going on, and were able to make informed decisions even though all around us it felt like our world was collapsing in.
Over the next 24 hours we experienced great trauma both emotional and physical and throughout the Burton Hospital midwife team were angels, to a person. They gave us the info we needed, looked after my wife and I, respected our wishes, provided excellent nursing care, and engaged with us personally in a way that was inspiring and everything that is great about the NHS.
Once it was all over the bereavement midwives stayed in touch and even came to the remembrance service with us and hugged us afterwards.
I'm not usually one to be sentimental but they were our angels through that awful night.
"Wonderful care at a difficult time"
