"Robotic Laparascopic Hysterectomy"

About: Gynaecology / Gynaecology & Early Pregnancy Inpatients (Ward 36)

(as the patient),

Appointment with surgeon Dr Ragupathy who was very friendly and gave me all the information about my surgery and possible outcome.

The following week I had my surgery and was kept in Ward 36 overnight.

The staff nurses were run off their feet while looking after everyone as well as they could.

There are a lot of tricky patients in that ward and they seem to require a lot of the staff time.

The nurses, on the whole are caring, but you can see that their work is not easy.

I didn't spend much time in the bathroom and shower area, but felt that they could do with a really good clean. Underneath the toilet roll dispenser was not nice, you could see where people had tried to get the paper out with body fluids etc on their hands.

I had a successful surgery and was able to go home the day after my operation.

I have recovered really well and cannot thank the surgeon enough for the brilliant job she did for me.

Hi earthxe67,

My name is Martha and I am one of the Charge Nurses on Ward 36.

Firstly thank you so much for taking the time to provide this feedback. I am glad to hear you are recovering well and have passed your feedback and thanks onto Dr Ragupathy who will be delighted to hear about your recovery.

I am so sorry to hear that the toilets on the ward were not clean and I have highlighted this to my colleagues to ensure regular checks of the toilets are carried out and a deep clean has been requested. I really appreciate your understanding when the nursing team were busy and seeing to other patients but am glad you felt that they were caring overall. If there is anything you feel we could have done better as a nursing team, please do not hesitate to get in touch.

If you would like to provide any further details or discuss this feedback further please contact myself, Charge Nurse Claire Wright or Senior Charge Nurse Fiona McCallum on 01382 633836.

Thanks Again,

Martha Collier
