"Waiting times for 20+ hours"

About: Royal Victoria Hospital / Accident & Emergency

(as a service user),

Waiting times for 20+Hours in A&E.

Waited for more than 5 hours and had only been to see Triage and sent back to waiting room.

I asked the nursing staff politely how long I should expect to be waiting and they met me with what I felt was a very aggressive and rude attitude.

They told me that it was 13+ hours wait just to be seen again and it was only going to get longer.

Dear Jonep33,

I’m John Barron, Service Manager for Urgent and Emergency Care.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience on Care Opinion, I am so sorry to read about your poor experience. Unfortunately, the entire Health and Social Care System remains under significant pressure and as a result this often results in long wait times. We do strive to treat each patient individually with care and compassion through all stages of their journey in ED, unfortunately on this occasions your experience seems to have fallen short. We regularly review the design of our services in an attempt to ensure that patients receive timely care. Your experience is not one we would wish for any patient.

Kind regards

John
