"Marvellous help and support from SLT"

I self referred to the SLT team in Ninewells on the advice of a friend with a medical background (now retired).  I had suffered a head injury while holidaying abroad and, after six months of recovery it was clear that I had been left with some residual memory and communication issues.  Although these weren’t profound, I was finding them difficult to deal with on a day to day basis and wasn’t sure how to seek assistance.  My friend suggested that the SLT team might be able to provide guidance and perhaps even an action plan to give me the best chance of a good long term recovery.  

After checking the SLT website I emailed the team and was surprised to get a lovely call from a speech therapist, Jaclyn, the very next day.  Jaclyn, besides being friendly and reassuring, quickly arranged an appointment for me to come and see her.  I’ve just been for that appointment and am hugely impressed by the warm, supportive and highly professional way I’ve been treated.  Jaclyn has put a therapy plan in place and will be contacting other departments that might also lend assistance.  I am so grateful to have been picked up by the SLT team and feel like I’m in very safe hands.  Huge thanks to Jaclyn and the team for your help and compassion.
