"This service is an absolute essential one."

About: Older People’s Services / Hospital at Home Northern Sector

(as a service user),

Hospital at home is a very vital service when hospitalisation is simply not a practical option.

They are efficient, effective and considerate with minimal disruption to the home.

My mother was in a state of acute deterioration and transport to hospital and waiting for 24 hours or more in A+E would not have been possible so this service is an absolute essential one.

Thank you for your swift intervention.

Thank you for your feedback.

I totally agree the service is vital in order to prevent hospital admission. On some occasions we may have to admit depending on the condition however on most occasions the patient is treated successfully in their own home.

The staff in A&E work incredibly hard however as the department covers such a large geographical area it can become very busy very quickly.

We aim to see patients within 2 hours of referral however this is normally much quicker. We do swiftly move in and commence treatment and monitor progress regularly.

I will pass on your feedback to all the staff.

Kind regards

Katherine Stevenson
