On 23rd May this year I was met by 2 Paramedics at my Mother -in -law's bedside at her care home. The Senior Carer had recognised deterioration with my MIL and had called 999. The ambulance had arrived very quickly, and the Paramedics moved quickly in recognising possible sepsis and fast AF. I went in the ambulance with my MIL to try and help prevent further distress as she has advanced vascular dementia. The Paramedic in the back of the ambulance commenced iv pain relief and monitored her condition all the way to PCH. On arrival at the hospital my MIL was taken straight into Resus where she was quickly assessed, a chest x ray and bloods taken and treatment commenced with iv antibiotics, fluids with caution due to her congestive heart failure. I was kept informed by the Paramedic as soon as was possible Without the prompt action of the Paramedics my MIL might not have survived to return to her care home over a week later. My husband and I are extremely grateful and indebted to the professional and very caring Paramedics on that day. Thank you sincerely.
