"They were very good at their job"

About: Queen Margaret Hospital / Plastic Surgery & Burns

(as a service user),

I recently had my first ever minor operation. I had to have a minor growth removed from an awkward area. I was very anxious going in and brought along someone to sit in with me.

The nurses were incredible. They allowed my companion to be in the room with me which helped me settle into this new experience. They talked me through each step and were very kind and patient with me.

Even though it was an awkward situation for me, they made me feel dignified and safe. I would say that they were very good at their job.  They helped me when I was nervous and fighting off a panic attack to keep me calm and breathing and gave me a cold compress which helped me a lot.

Dear Princess Oatmilk,

Thank you so much for taking the time to post such lovely comments about your recent experience in our Plastic Surgery Department.

New situations can often cause anxiety, and I am pleased that having your companion with you and the procedure explained in a kind and patient manner helped you through this new situation.

I am pleased that you felt safe and were treated with dignity when under our care. We aim to treat all our patients with these values and am pleased this was also your experience.

I have passed your kind comments on to our wider nursing team, and we all wish you well in your recovery from your procedure.

Caroline
