"Left in awe of your compassion and work ethic"

About: Borders General Hospital / Accident & Emergency Borders General Hospital / Acute Assessment Unit Borders General Hospital / Dental

(as the patient),

Temperature and headache seemed not important until GP said I had a record temperature and was rushed into the BGH.

Admitted slowly- that was the only down point- the care, compassion, attention I received was second to none. Having spent two nights downstairs in what looked like an office I was moved upstairs to ward 6 as they continue to investigate the cause of my high temperature, headaches and nausea. Sepsis was eventually discovered through a gum/ tooth infection and day 3/4 resulted in removal of multiple teeth and a lengthy 90 minute dental process. Dentists were very cheery despite being Friday late and the senior dentist having left with the dental surgery keys- I was operated on in the student training area…

My main comment is regarding the gorgeous staff of ward 6. Even though I was quite ill and delirious some of the time I could not fail to notice the care, compassion and diligence of their work- from cleaner through to consultant. Of special note - toileting elderly patients with dementia with care and just the right amount of humour in a ward- a procedure I had to experience being in the ward with 3  such patients many times. Just amazing.

Honestly left in awe of your compassion and work ethic. Chocolates are on their way.

God  bless and thank you. X

Dear Edig, thankyou so much for your lovely feedback, I'm sorry you have so unwell and sounds as if you have been through a fairly traumatic time with having complex dental work. I'm delighted however that you feel your experience in the Emergency Department was a positive one. I will handover your kind words to the staff. I do hope you are well on the way to a full recovery. Thanks again for taking the time to use Care Opinion.

Best wishes
