1. I have no complaints about the nurses or the HCAs, they all did an amazing job under management who didn't seem to appreciate them. Their schedules were apparently often changed at short notice. Sometimes one nurse would have to look after a ward of 6 people.
2. Despite walking into the hospital, my elderly uncle wasn't allowed out of bed for weeks on end (he was a fall risk). On a couple of occasions he managed to get out of the bed, but was forcibly put back in. When he left the hospital he had lost the ability to walk and it took six months of private physio for him to become mobile again. There was a physio team who said my uncle wasn't worth rehabilitating. There were also patients in the same ward who were also confined to bed. Apparently they were understaffed.
3. There were a number of incidents where my uncle sad that he was attacked. (In this ward and in the Frederick Salmon ward). Our complaints were not listened to. There was a massive bruise running down the side of my uncle's face where he said someone punched him in the middle of the night. Nothing was done about this.
4. I visited my uncle as often as I could. Often three times a week. It seemed that some patients didn't have anyone to visit them and I genuinely worry for their safety without someone to advocate for them.
"Horrible experience"
