"Care Opinion not publishing stories"

About: Rampton Hospital

(as a service user),

i posted a story on care opinion about 5 days ago and it still has not appeared on the page which says if something is awaiting a response or approval. And i believe that care opinion is picking and choosing what they post and who they want to be put on. i have been identified by certain staff on my ward , but yet care opinion says that they should not be able to identify individuals, yet thats not the truth as i have clearly been identified by staff and more concerning is that staff actually get asked if they want to read it or not publish it before it even appears on care opinion, so yeah be careful what you post because care opinion is not confidential as it says it is and even if this does not get posted i am going to be disscussing this in the divisional meeting. and also i have written to senior management for a response as my confidentuality has been revealed.

Dear Author,

I am one of the senior moderators here at Care Opinion. Firstly, thank you for using Care Opinion we have been very pleased to publish multiple postings from you on our platform. We are sorry that you are disappointed that there are postings that we have not published. Every posting on Care Opinion is carefully reviewed by Care Opinion in line with our moderation guidelines. This can take a few days. We can reassure you there is no question of picking and choosing postings. There are other postings that we have felt are unsafe to publish for different reasons.

When moderating we always consider the setting for each patient, and in Rampton Hospital we are very careful about not identifying patients or staff by name or via content of the story. When postings are serious, or they present concerns, we do on occasion share them with staff prior to publishing to ensure everyone’s safety.

This is an important initiative in Rampton Hospital, and we are pleased patients can feedback on the Care Opinion platform. We will continue to work with patients and staff to make this useful and safe.

I have contacted patient involvement, experience and volunteering as requested by advocacy on behalf of a patient to address this and the response was as follows:

We have had several posts from patients and as with all Care Opinion postings they go through a moderation process… sometimes postings aren’t shared on the public site as they disclose personal information that means individuals or staff colleagues could be identified, this moderation process can take up to 8-10 working days (it is usually quicker than this tbh)

When a posting isn’t going to be made Care Opinion reach out to the to confirm and if we are able to identify the individual than a staff member will make contact and follow up directly with the patient.

I understand we have a postings from which will be published today or tomorrow.

I hope this answers any questions/queries that you may have had.

Thankyou for bringing this to the attention of advocacy to enable us to unpick what the problem was.

Have a great weekend and enjoy the football!
