I had an operation on my hand recently and want to acknowledge the fantastic level of care I received from the minute I set foot in the Day Surgery Unit at the RIE.
The receptionist was so welcoming and friendly; the staff who did all the checks prior to me going for the operation had a lovely manner and were so reassuring. Everyone made sure I was aware of what would happen at each stage of the process. The anaesthetists explained fully what would happen. All of the theatre staff were so lovely and calming. When I woke up in the ward I received superb care. I was very sick and sleepy but received regular checks. I had to stay in overnight and a nurse found me a quiet bed to help me sleep. I was given iced water and offered a selection of food and regular cups of tea. All the staff had such a kind, caring manner and clearly enjoy their job. In the morning it was the same - nothing was too much for them. My discharge was quick and all medication was available. It was such a lovely calm atmosphere.
Special thanks to my surgeon, Mr Molyneux and his team. He explained the procedure clearly before the operation and visited me on the ward to explain what he had had to do and the next steps.
The NHS should be very proud of this team of professionals.
Thank you.
"Such a lovely calm atmosphere"
