"Brilliant new service, particularly good for children"

About: Emergency department / Minor Injuries Unit

(as a parent/guardian),

I attended the Minor Injuries Unit with my 4 year old after he had a fall. I used the phone first service and I received a very prompt call back with an appointment in 30 minutes time.

Upon arrival we were checked in and then assessed by a lovely Nurse Practitioner called Leona almost straight away. She was very friendly, thorough and reassuring and my son said she was the “best nurse”. My son was also referred to and checked over by a very kind Maxfax trainee (CT2).

I feel that this service is a brilliant new service which is particularly good for children who can be kept away from the busy ED.

Many thanks to all the staff involved for a great experience.

Dear Catherine04,

My name is Ann Marie Conlon and I am the Falls Integrated Pathway Co-ordinator within the Western Health and Social Care Trust.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience of the service you received when you attended Minor Injuries with your son following a fall. We are always grateful to those who share their experiences of the services they have received through Care Opinion.

It was reassuring to learn that your son received prompt care and attention following the phone first service and that the staff your son met were thorough, friendly and reassuring.

As an organisation we are committed to consistently show kindness, compassion, professionalism and respect to the patients we care for.

I hope that your son is making a good recovery at this time.

We are currently looking for interested members of the public to provide feedback on our Falls Prevention Resources. This can be someone who has had a fall, is at risk of a fall or someone who cares for a person who has had a fall and feels passionate about improving Falls Services and Resources in the Western Trust. If this is something you would be interested in and would like more information on what is involved, please contact Úna McGovern at involve@westerntrust.hscni.net or call on 07775993582.

Best wishes,

Ann Marie Conlon

Falls Integrated Pathway Co-ordinator
