"Gave me something to look forward to"

About: First Steps Programme

(as a parent/guardian),

I had help from the First Steps program.

As a new first time mum who lived a fair distance from family and who doesn't really have any friends, it was hard for me when my partner went back to work after we had our baby. The first steps workers helped so much with providing someone to go out on a walk with and talk to, and they even provide a Moses basket and showed me how to give my baby a massage, he loves getting his massage after his baths now or when he's a bit upset. It helped me a lot to have someone there every 2 weeks to, and gave me something to look forward to as I love to go for walks but wasn't confident in taking my baby out alone. And her being there to talk to helped my confidence and mental health. They also helped by finding local baby classes like bookbug to help my baby gain social skills and be involved in the community.

Hi Leathertp77

Thank you so much for sharing your feedback on the First Steps Programme.

It must have been hard for you being a first time mum with your family being so far away and not many friends around you.

I am so pleased to read the First Steps Worker was able to help increasing your confidence, help with your mental health and also to provide you with the skill of baby massage.

I cannot wait to share your lovely comments with the team.

I hope you and your little one are doing well

Kind regards

Helen
