"Recovery from hip placement operation"

About: ICST (Community Nursing, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy) / ICST (Community Nursing, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy) Carluke

(as a relative),

I am writing this on behalf of my mum. To start, I would like to say the Sarah-Jane, who was the physio appointed to work with mum was absolutely outstanding is her level of support, empathy, encouragement and positivity. She made a huge difference to mum's recovery and I don't think we would have managed without that input. So big thank you from mum and the rest of the family.

The fall and the hip trauma had a devastating effect on my mum, she is/was not your average woman in her 90s - she was fit and very mobile prior to the accident, was still playing golf, walking and living independently while about caring for my dad, who is also in his 90s.

The physical discomfort was only part of it, her mental health was also badly injured and her confidence and mood plummeted. Sarah-Jane helped her focus on sincerity that she could do something about her strength and fitness. That was in her control and gave her focus.

The level of support was fabulous. The physio was professional and very caring. She took an interest and got to know mum and how to motivate her.

It was regular, reliable and generally first-class. Well done!

Nothing could be improved.

She was encouraged and it helped her be more positive. She could see that she was making progress week to week because Sarah-Jane gave her a plan to work to and managed her expectations.

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your mum's story with us.

It is really lovely to hear that the Physiotherapy and care your mum received from Sarah-Jane has had such a positive impact on her rehabilitation and recovery.

The community teams work hard to ensure that patient's unique needs and goals are at the centre of any rehabilitation plan and it is really lovely to hear that this has been the experience for your mum during what sounds like has been a really difficult and unsettling time for her and her loved ones.

I will be sure to pass this feedback on to Sarah-Jane and the team who I know will be really pleased to hear they have been such a positive influence.

Kind Regards

Nicola O'Donnell
